Why do prices vary?

In our ring configurator our prices are adjusted automatically according to the current gold price, which means that you always pay the best price.

The gold price fluctuates daily and this change in price is automatically adjusted on our website on a daily basis. In general, there is not a great difference in price. With every step you take to design your perfect ring in the configurator, the price adjusts to your wishes!

To be 100% sure of the correct size, we recommend that you order a free ring sizer. We also offer a print-out version of our ring sizer here. As soon as you know the correct ring size, you can select it in the configurator or in the drop-down menu next to the product. For custom-made designs you can pass this information on to us via: info@basicweddings.com. For all of the rings designed in the configurator and all custom-made designs, we also offer a free 3D dummy of your design so that you can try on your ring in advance, before placing the order. Jewelry and materials

What materials do you use for your jewelry?

At Basic Wedding Rings, only the best is good enough. That’s why all of our jewelry is made of high quality precious metal. We use both 14 karat and 18 karat yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, red gold and platinum with the highest possible percentage of recycled gold. All of our jewelry is also provided with a hallmark. This way you can be assured of both authenticity and quality.

What is the difference between gold plated, hollow and solid gold?

A gold plated piece of jewelry consists of a non-gold metal such as silver or stainless steel and is covered with a thin layer of gold. After frequent wear, this layer will eventually wear off, leaving the stainless steel or silver bottom layer visible. As a result, the piece of jewelry will have to be gilded again (covered thinly with gold leaf or gold paint). Jewelry with such a layer is not the type of jewelry that you would wear for the rest of your life, which is the case with solid gold. A hollow piece of jewelry is made of gold, only the core of it has not been filled, which makes it considerably lighter. A solid piece of jewelry is filled to the core with 14 or 18 carat gold. This has several advantages such as that it does not discolor, always retains its value and will last a lifetime, making it a perfect heirloom piece.

We only use solid 14 and 18 carat gold in our collections. Making our jewelry both durable and timeless.

A marriage is a life-long commitment, and your wedding ring should travel this journey with you for all those exciting years to come. Our materials and suppliers have been carefully chosen to remain affordable, but still assure you of only the best quality.

What is the difference between rose gold and red gold?

The main difference is in the copper content. When copper is added to gold, this beautiful pinkish gold color is created. The higher the percentage of copper in the alloy, the stronger the pink tone. Rose gold is the lighter version of these two golds. The ratio between gold, copper and silver determines the final color of your jewelry.

Which diamond quality do you select for your jewelry?

Let’s start with the four C’s: carat, color, clarity, and cut. The number of carats illustrates the weight of a diamond and determines the size and the price of this precious stone. The bigger the diamond, the higher the value. The color of a diamond, or the lack of it, also determines the value. The more colorless a diamond, the more valuable it is. Clarity refers to the amount of inclusions in a diamond. If no inclusions are visible, the diamond is flawless. This last diamond grade is very close to VVS (Very Very Small Inclusions) quality. If a diamond is graded VS (Very Small Inclusions), this indicates that the diamond has inclusions which are so small, that they are not visible to the naked eye.

We only select VVS/VS quality diamonds for all our jewelry. All diamonds from 0.30ct have a HRD/GIA certificate. Besides the fact that you can be assured of the best quality, our prices are based on the current gold price. This means you always receive the best quality for the fairest price.

Where do our pearls come from?

All of your precious pearls are personally selected from reliable suppliers who have been selected based on the supplier’s knowledge and reliability.

Why is the pearl size ‘approximately’ 7mm?

Pearls are a natural product. As a result, their size can deviate by a few millimeters. We do our best to select the roundest pearls of the finest color and quality.

What is the difference between freshwater pearls and saltwater pearls? And why do you only sell the saltwater variant?

The main differences between freshwater pearls and saltwater pearls at a glance:

✰ Freshwater pearls grow in mussels in lakes and rivers.

✰ Saltwater pearls grow in oysters in the sea.

✰ Natural pearls are very rare. Nowadays, most pearls are cultivated and of a higher quality.

✰ A natural pearl is formed without any human intervention.

✰ Both cultured pearls and natural pearls are real pearls. The difference is that humans have initiated the growth of cultivated pearls.

✰ Freshwater pearls are available in various shapes.

✰ Saltwater pearls are always round in shape.

✰ We only use saltwater cultivated pearls for all our jewelry collections.

✰ The most famous among the saltwater pearls, which we also use in our collections, are the Japanese Akoya pearls and the grey, black and mystical green colored Tahiti pearls.

✰ Akoya pearls are mainly grown in Japan and are cultivated in the Akoya pearl oyster.

✰ Tahiti pearls derive their name from the place they are cultivated around the islands of French Polynesia, around Tahiti.

✰ Discover more about these special pearls here.

Hallmark

Starting from which weight must gold and platinum be hallmarked in the Netherlands?

In the Netherlands, gold must be officially hallmarked from 1 gram and platinum from 0.5 grams. All of our jewelry above this weight is provided with an official hallmark placed in the jewelry by Edelmetaal Waarborg Nederland. This way you can be assured of both authenticity and quality.

Custom-design

Designing my own wedding ring, how does it work?

Designing your custom-made ring in our configurator has never been so fun and easy, as we believe it should be!

In 6 simple steps you can bring your perfect ring to life. Each choice you make is instantly visible in your ring image to the right of the configurator menu. Next to choosing the desired ring profile (we have provided you with the most timeless designs), you can select your desired width, the material in which you would like your wedding ring to be made, the finish of your ring (will you go for smooth or how about a hammered look?), and top your design off with a beautiful diamond. The choice is yours!

To complete your personalized design we offer complimentary ring engraving. Just select your desired font and leave your message in the final step. (This could be a meaningful phrase such as ‘I love you’ or both of your names and the wedding date. Something personal, which is completely up to you.)

Before you complete your order, you can choose whether you would like to receive an image of your ring on your hand via Whatsapp or email using JewelSee3D, or receive a 3D dummy of your creation so you can be sure it is the perfect fit. Choosing both options is also possible (and a great way to try before you buy!)
